FreeChat Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2025-11-10
Summary
- FreeChat is designed so conversation and message content are not stored on our servers. Message bodies reside only on your device.
- We use Google Sign-In for authentication and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for push notifications.
Information We Collect
1) Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive a Google ID token and basic profile information such as your name and email address. We use this to verify your identity and provide access to the app.
2) Device Identifiers for Notifications
We collect and store an FCM device token to send you push notifications about new messages or app events.
3) Conversation and Message Content
We do not store conversation or message bodies on our servers. These remain on your device only (local storage such as Room/SQLite/SharedPreferences). If you uninstall the app, reset, or clear data, locally stored messages may be removed.
How We Use Information
- Authenticate your account and keep you signed in
- Deliver push notifications (via FCM)
- Maintain basic service functionality and security
Data Sharing
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share conversation or message content with third parties.
- Service providers (e.g., Google/Firebase) may process data as part of authentication and messaging infrastructure in accordance with their policies.
Data Retention
- Account identifiers and tokens are retained for as long as your account is active and necessary to provide the service.
- We do not retain message bodies on our servers.
- FCM tokens are retained while needed to deliver notifications and may be refreshed periodically.
Security
- We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
- Local data remains on your device; protect your device with a passcode or biometric authentication.
Your Choices
- You may remove your Google account from the device or sign out of the app to stop using the service.
- You may disable notifications at the system level or within the app settings (if available).
- To remove local data, you can clear app data or uninstall the app.
Children’s Privacy
FreeChat is not directed to children under the age applicable in your region. If you believe we have information from a child, contact us to request deletion.
International Transfers
Depending on your region, authentication and messaging infrastructure may process data in data centers outside your country.
